Ryan J. Deel

Ryan Deel is a dedicated husband and father, proud Spartan, lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, public servant and licensed Amateur Radio Operator with the FCC. He has a unique perspective because he worked in front of and behind the judge’s bench.

In 1998, Ryan graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University, where he met his wife Melinda. After graduating from MSU, Ryan attended Wayne State University Law School. He was licensed to practice law in November 2001 and went to work for a small tax and business litigation firm in Southfield. By 2002, he joined his wife Melinda in private practice, where they specialized in probate, estate planning, family law, juvenile delinquency, child welfare law and appellate practice.

In 2006, Ryan went to work for Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Linda S. Hallmark. Until 2017, Judge Hallmark was cross assigned to the Oakland County Probate Court and the Oakland County Circuit Court Family Division. Ryan provided counsel to the judge on all aspects of Family Law and Probate cases. He also worked with attorneys and self-represented litigants to resolve cases without trial. He was active in assisting the Judge Hallmark in speaking at New Judge School, commencing videoconferencing in the Courtroom and writing and peaking throughout the state of Michigan.

In 2017, Ryan was elected to the Rochester Hills City Council. In December 2019, he was unanimously elected to serve as President of the Rochester Hills City Council and was unanimously re-elected President every year since.

Ryan Deel Joined the firm on January 1, 2025, after serving as the judicial staff attorney for the Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Linda S. Hallmark, for almost 18 years, until her retirement at the end of 2024. He uses his experience in private practice and in the judiciary to serve our clients everyday.
